Small and Breif Night Time Tornado
4/6/06
Quite an unusal chase, as first I had to opt to miss the big NU vs USC football game, you know your a hardcore chaser when you opt to chase over watching that. We ended all the way up to Yankton SD and watched the storm of the day form 30 miles to our North but opt to let it go banking on storms forming in the O'neil area, well that never occurred. At that point we basically called the chase off and stoped in Norfolk for some Culvers. On the way back to Lincoln initiation in NE finnally occurred the only problem was it was now dark. We had to decide if we wanted to just go home or try to chase, we really didn't have to debate to long as we were all convection deprived. We first intercepted storms south of Columbus but those quickly were becoming linear in Nature and new development was occurring near Lincoln. Figureing that the isolated storm ahead of the line had the best chance at a decent show we drove east and cut behind the storm near Ceresco. From there we followed the storms updraft base illuminated by lightning. While we were passing through Ashland we caught a real breif and weak appearing tornado to our NE.

We were actually lucky to spot this as it was so brief.

Good thing this tornado was not stronger as at this point it was just moving into the subburbs of West Omaha.

From this point the storm really began to loose its intensity as the line of storms caught up to it.
