Day after Greensburg
May 5th
High Risk day that held much potential for violent tornadoes. Much of the area at risk was already suffering from the previous nights storms so through out the day we repeatidly would come acoss damage paths. We left woodward early in the morning and traveled North to our target of Ness City. There we watched the inital wave develop and become a linear mess. Eventually we realized that not much was to become of the linear mess so after meeting up with Brian, Rich along with Terry and Gregg we dropped south to Pratt. There better destabalization had taken place and storms were developing in NW OK and treking into the area. We got on a Tornado warned storm just North of Pratt and followed it as it produced numerous funnels. Evntually we got sick of it not being able to produce so we opted to move West and intercept the storm coming up towards Great Bend. We arrived to town about the same time as the storm, and ended up trying to chase what appeared to be a rain wrapped tornado. Soon after dark fell and we all decided to get a room in Great Bend, after chekcing in, tornado warned storms began to move up from our South. We droped SE and tried to chase the monsters at night, most of the tornadoes appeared to be rain wrapped however a couple of times we were able to get a visual of the large tornado south of Great Bend.

TCU going up before noon just West of Ness City

Underneath the outflow mess shortly before we left it to drop south

After grabbing a quick bite to eat in Pratt, we picked up the storm as it moved just north of town

The storm began to look like a storm that belonged in a High Risk area

As I watched this funnel form I thought we were seconds from watching a large tornado form

The funnel grew but couldn't condense down

Large RFD

Small white funnel formed on edge of RFD cut

Another night shot of tornado south of Great Bend the next day we moved through the area and noticed moderate damage
