Multiple KS Tornadoes

May 22nd

This last week May 22-26 has been insane enough I could probably write a short novel, though for your sake as well as mine I will try to keep things as brief as I can and still provide a thorough description of the events. Thursday was easily my most insane chase day to date. I chased this day solo, and initially targeted the Hill City area. I ended up getting on the first storm of the day and it was all uphill from there. Provided that I was chasing Solo, storm motions were 50+ and I spent most of the day on mud roads, I was unable to take a lot of stills, plus the video shows the days events better anyway, so this day will mainly be documented using video and or video grabs.

This is the First tornadic storm I filmed this day, I tracked the storm from NW of Hoxie to the West of Selden all the way North. This is video of a couple of its many tornadoes....

A couple of the first storms tornadoes including multi-vortex and wedge.

This Second Tornado I only filmed breifly, this is SW of the City of Oberlin KS, I thought for sure this tornado was going to move directly into town...

Tornado JUST misses the city of Oberlin

After filming the Oberlin Tornado I droped South South East to catch the next storm. This was likely the most intense scene I have witnessed while chasing, this is just North of Dresden. The tornado went from Wedge to Multi-Vortex to Stovepipe back to Wedge all in the field right next to me. It was quite unusal as I was able to film the tornado looking to the East, while not typically the ideal way it worked out well in this case, other than the 100mph RFD winds I had a great view, my camera lens was coated in Dust and Dirt the reason for the more poor video quality.

A short clip of some amazing footage I shot North of Dresden

A few Video Grabs

These First Few are of the First Storm I chased, Most were from the area Just NW of Hoxie, Pretty Much Every Grab is a different Vortex albeit from same parent rotation.

This is the same storm, but now you can see a larger tornado trying to form on the right side, with a smaller tornado just to it's left.

This is that same large tornado only a couple minutes later, now a large Wedge..

The Next couple are of a Tornado Just to the SW of Oberlin KS

The remaining are from after I dropped South for the next storm, most are from the area just North of Dresden KS
