Wichita Falls TX and Lawton OK

April 7th

What for a while appeared to be quite a promising day, despite a decent supercell ended up to be somewhat of a let down. We started with a Prelimanary target of Chickasha OK. Upon arrival to that area, things looked great, and a PDS watch was subsequently issued by the SPC. After sitting in town for a while it became apparent we needed to drop South, to intercept storms near the Red River. Upon arrival to the storm it displayed excellent supercell structure, and a couple of times tried to tornado for us, but could never quite get it done. The rest of the day we spent on the OK turnpike debating rather to drop South for developing convection, or head back North and wait for storms along the WF. It turned out neither option would be a good one, as decent storms ceased to exist the rest of the day. I didn't take a whole lot of pictures as I kept expecting the show to get better, though I did get some nice tripoded video of the rotating Meso.

Nice strongly rotating meso.

This Appendage was rotating quite rapidly.

Just moments after the previous image, not the inflow band forming.

This is the base of the storm after it had weakend some.
