Squaw Creek NWR

Feb. 24th

After hearing about the massive amount of birds that gather at Squaw Creek NWR, I decided to make the trip down to see what its really all about. I must say, it’s more impressive than I was expecting. I guess at time there are upwards of 1.4 Million Snow Geese here at anyone given time. Plenty of Eagles soaring around as well. I would recommend making the trip to anyone, as it truly is a pretty impressive thing to see. I spent a good deal of the day there, arriving right at sunrise, and snapped well over 300 pictures. I still haven’t even gone through them all, but I sorted through a few, see below….

These Mallards and Canadians were near the North side of the refuge where I entered, at the time I didn't know the main show was on the South side of the refuge about 4-5 miles to my South.

These Phesants were also on the North side of the refuge, as well as this Muscrat.

Eventually I continued my track South through the refuge, and as I did so I started to encounter numerous eagles.

The Eagles were hunting early in the day, the following picture shows a group of eagles stalking a group of ducks.

This next picture leads me into the main show at the refuge currently, the snow geese. In this picture you can see an eagle in there stiring things up.
